Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Quakes left a total of 16 men on base on Saturday night, falling short of a second straight win by dropping a 7-5 decision to the Visalia Rawhide.

The Quakes left at least one man on base in eight of the nine innings and left them loaded on three different occasions, as two-out hits were hard to come by.

Julio Carrion’s two-run homer (8) gave the Quakes a 2-0 lead over Visalia starter Yaifer Perdomo in the second inning.

Visalia finally got on the board in the fourth against Rancho starter Jerming Rosario, as Wilderd Patino tripled home Jordan Lawlar, making it 2-1.

The Rawhide took the lead for good, scoring a total of six runs in the fifth, chasing Rosario (2-5) and getting to reliever Martin Santana as well.

The come-back effort wasn’t quite enough, as Yunior Garcia and Kenneth Betancourt each had an RBI single in the fifth and Carrion added to his strong night with another run-scoring single in the seventh, but that’s as close as the Quakes would get.

They left the bases loaded in the seventh against winning pitcher Miguel Gil (2-2) and then left two on the eighth against Carlos Meza, before Junior Mieses earned the final out of the ninth for his sixth save.

Rancho (3-5, 39-35) will send Orlando Ortiz (1-2) to the mound against Visalia’s Liam Norris (0-3) at 6:30pm on Sunday night in the series-finale.

To finish the home stand, the Quakes will celebrate Independence Day Weekend with a spectacular Fireworks Display, thanks to the Ontario International Airport. Gates open at 5:30pm. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
