Six All-Stars for Quakes!

Raley and Smith to start for South Division

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The California League has announced its 2017 mid-season California League All-Stars and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are well-represented, with six players making the team. Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The California League has announced its 2017 mid-season California League All-Stars and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are well-represented, with six players making the team. The 2017 California League All-Star Game will be held at Recreation Park in Visalia, on Tuesday, June 20th. 
Starting for the South Division will be outfielder Luke Raley and catcher Will Smith. Raley, who leads the Quakes with a .291 average, has been a staple for Rancho all season long, clubbing seven home runs, driving in 22 runs, stealing a team-best eight bases and collecting seven outfield assists to lead the entire California League. Smith has batted .239 through 55 games, with seven homers, 29 RBIs and six steals. Hailed as one of the best defensive catchers in the minors, Smith is tops in the California League at throwing out would-be base-stealers, gunning down more than 52%. 
Also making the club is first baseman Ibandel Isabel, who leads the league in home runs (15) and has driven in a team-high 40 runs. Outfielder DJ Peters, a Glendora native, has also been named to the team. Peters is batting .248 with ten round-trippers, 35 RBIs and is fifth in the league with five outfield assists. 
Pitchers Dennis Santana and Caleb Ferguson will also represent the Quakes, as the only two Rancho pitchers to make the team. Santana is 3-4 in 11 games, with one of the top ERA's in the league at 2.90. Ferguson is 1-3 in 11 games and carries a 3.26 earned run average. 
The 2017 All-Star Game will feature a North versus South format, as the two squads will face off next Tuesday, June 20th, at Recreation Park in Visalia. Tickets are available by visiting the Visalia Rawhide website at rawhidebaseball.com.
