Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes extended their season-high winning streak to six games on Saturday night with a 9-5 victory over the Lake Elsinore Storm at LoanMart Field.

The Rancho bats got going early, scoring in the first inning for the fourth consecutive night. Diego Cartaya recorded four RBIS with an RBI groundout in the first inning as well as a three-run home run in the fourth inning.

Jimmy Lewis pitched three innings in the start, allowing just two runs on two hits with one strikeout. Hyun-il Choi (6-3) pitched the bulk of the game, picking up the next five innings to record the win. Choi allowed three runs on four hits with six strikeouts.

Noel Vela got the start and was charged with the loss for Lake Elsinore. Vela (1-6) pitched just 2.2 innings, allowing five hits and six runs, three of which were unearned.

Lake Elsinore matched the Quakes at two in the second inning when Gilberto Vizcarra hit his first home run of the season. Later in the third, Sauryn Lao delivered a two-out, two-run single to extend the Quakes’ lead to four.

The Storm scored the last three runs of the game but the comeback effort was not enough. Joan Valdez closed the door with a scoreless ninth inning to keep the Storm at five runs.
