Bo Takahashi Named California League Pitcher of the Week

VISALIA, CA- The Visalia Rawhide announced today that RHP Bo Takahashi has been selected as the California League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 29th - June 3rd.

VISALIA, CA- The Visalia Rawhide announced today that RHP Bo Takahashi has been selected as the California League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 29th - June 3rd.

The 20-year old right-hander was dominant over the week, earning critical wins on the road against the Lake Elsinore Storm and the Inland Empire 66ers.  
The Rawhide won five games over the course of the week, with Takahashi providing the winning spark twice. He dealt 12 scoreless innings this week while allowing only four hits and striking out eight hitters. His six-inning shutout performance against Lake Elsinore on May 31st ended a season-long four-game losing streak for the Rawhide and sent Visalia on a three-game winning streak.
With Visalia this season, Takahashi is 3-2 with a 2.79 ERA, allowing 21 hits and racking up 33 strikeouts in 35.1 innings. Cal League opponents are hitting just .171 against him and he's posted a 0.85 WHIP. His ERA, WHIP, and Average Against are the best marks among starters on the Rawhide this season and Visalia has won each of his past three starts.
Takahashi had a brief stint with the Rawhide in 2016, making two starts while going 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA as a 19-year old. Overall, 2016 was a strong year for Takahashi, who went 6-4 with a 2.81 ERA between Short Season Hillsboro, Class-A Kane County, and Visalia. He was also named the Pioneer League Pitcher of the Week on June 29, 2015 in his second professional season.
Takahashi, who was signed as an International Free Agent on December 23, 2013, is first member of the Rawhide to be named a California League Player of the Week after Visalia netted four Players of the Week in 2016 (1B Rudy Flores, SS Dawel Lugo, RHP Brad Keller, and LHP Alex Young ).
The Rawhide open their final homestand of the first half Thursday evening against the San Jose Giants (Class A-Adv, San Francisco Giants) at Rawhide Ballpark. Visalia will host the California League All-Star Game and Fan Fest for the first time in 28 years on June 19th and 20th.
