Football was hosted regularly at America's Classic Ballpark from 1951 until 1982. Don't miss the long awaited return of high school and college football this fall at FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Reading Fightin Phils, proud Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies are proud to announce the 2018 Baseballtown Gridiron Classic. America's Classic Ballpark will turn into a FOOTBALL MECCA in September and October of 2018. The historic ballpark previously hosted high school football games from September, 1951 through October, 1983. Hosting seven high school and college football games at a minor league baseball stadium appears to be unprecedented. Other baseball stadiums have hosted football games before, but it doesn't appear that any have ever hosted nearly this many football games! But in typical Fightin Phils style - you go big, or you go home!
The Gridiron Classic kicks off on Thursday, September 20th between the Muhlenberg Muhls and Exeter Eagles. Six additional games will be played over the course of three weeks. Gates will open 2 hours prior to kick off and feature musical entertainment by students from the respective schools. Special ceremonies and events will take place to celebrate the return of football to FirstEnergy Stadium.
Guests will receive a $2 discount if they purchase their tickets in advance. Tickets may be purchased online, at the Fightin Phils ticket office, or by calling 610-370-BALL.
No passes will be accepted at the games.
