15th Annual Morning Game is a Winner

Reading has won seven out of their last eight games

The Reading Fightin Phils (39-19) beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (26-30) 2-1 in their 15th Annual Morning Game on Monday morning. The Fightins won three out of four games from the Fisher Cats and seven out of their last eight games.  

The Fightin Phils grabbed a 2-0 lead off Jeremy Gabryszwski and the Fisher Cats in the bottom of the third. Rhys Hoskins hit a two-run double to score Christian Marrero and Dylan Cozens. Matt Dean hit a solo home run off Leiter Jr. in the top of the fifth to cut Reading's lead to 2-1.

Leiter Jr. left the game after completing five innings. He allowed just one run off three hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Joely Rodriguez entered the game in the top of the sixth to pitch in relief. He pitched two scoreless innings. Hoby Milner entered the game to pitch in the top of the eighth.

Miguel Nunez retired the side in the top of the ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.  

The Fightin Phils will begin a three-game series with the Akron RubberDucks on Tuesday night at Canal Park. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on Sports Radio AM 1240/FM 98.5 and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm.
