Eastern League Announces Perkins as Player of the Week

Over seven games, outfielder hit .367 (11-for-30) with six doubles, three home runs, nine runs scored, and six RBIs

Reading Fightin Phils outfielder Cameron Perkins has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of June 1st-June 7th. Perkins joins Art Charles, Zach Eflin, and Ben Lively as Fightins players that have awarded take Player of the Week or Pitcher of the Week honors this season.

Perkins hit .367 (11-for-30) with six doubles, three home runs, nine runs scored, six RBIs, and a .867 slugging percentage in seven games for the Fightin Phils last week. The 24-year old hit recorded a hit in all seven games for the Fightin Phils and drove in or scored at least one run in six of those games, highlighted by his performance last Tuesday where he was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, three runs scored, and an RBI in Reading's 10-2 win over Erie.

Over the last week, Perkins led the Eastern League in runs scored (9), extra-base hits (9), total bases (26), and slugging percentage (.867) last week and tied for the league lead in hits (11) and home runs (3). The Indianapolis native also finished ranked among the weekly league leaders in RBIs (6-tied 2nd) and OPS (1.233-3rd). 

Perkins is hitting .257 in 51 games for the Fightin Phils this season, and he is currently tied for second in the league in extra-base hits (24) and doubles (16), and tied for third in home runs (8). 

Perkins was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the sixth round of the 2012 draft after hitting .355 with 61 RBIs and 53 runs scored in 58 games during his junior season at Purdue University.
