Fightins swept by Yard Goats in DH

Reading drops both games on Wednesday afternoon

(Hartford, CT) - The Reading Fightin Phils (44-51) return home to America's Classic Ballpark after losing both games on Wednesday afternoon to the Hartford Yard Goats (47-47). Hartford won game one by a score of 2-1 and game two by a score of 3-2. Game OneReading wasted no time getting

(Hartford, CT) - The Reading Fightin Phils (44-51) return home to America's Classic Ballpark after losing both games on Wednesday afternoon to the Hartford Yard Goats (47-47). Hartford won game one by a score of 2-1 and game two by a score of 3-2.
Game One
Reading wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. Darick Hall hit a sacrifice fly off Yard Goats starting pitcher Frank Duncan to score Adam Haseley to give the Fightins a 1-0 lead. Hartford tied the game at 1-1 against Fightin Phils starter Tyler Viza in the bottom of the fifth inning. Roberto Ramos hit a sacrifice fly to score Yonathan Daza .
The Yard Goats won the game in the bottom of the seventh inning as Brendan Rogers hit a walk-off RBI single off Fightin Phils relief pitcher Edgar Garcia . Kyle Dohy (0-1) was charged the loss as he left the inning with runners on second and third base. Mitch Horacek (1-3) earned the win for Hartford by pitching a scoreless top of the seventh inning.
Game Two
Hartford took their momentum from game number one into game number two by scoring a run in the top of the first inning. Brendan Rogers stole home after Alexis Rivero struck out Brian Mundell for the second out of the inning. The Fightins tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning Darick Hall scored on a throwing error by Yard Goats pitcher Evan Grills .
Reading took a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth inning as Cornelius Randolph scored on a wild pitch by Logan Cosart (7-3) after advancing to third base on a fly-ball out by Austin Listi .
Rogers struck again in the bottom of the eighth inning as he hit a walk-off two-run double by Aaron Brown (1-1) to end the ballgame in extra innings.
