FirstEnergy Stadium is host to more than just the Reading Fightin Phils. The organization is pleased to promote the Berks County Varsity High School game of the week – Governor Mifflin vs Wilson presented by Golden Oaks Landscaping. The teams fill out the one-two spots in Berks County Division I.

The contest will be played at FirstEnergy Stadium, Wednesday, April 28 at 7PM following the junior varsity match-up at 4:15PM. Admission and parking is free of charge. All fans are encouraged to attend! Fans unable to attend the game on Wednesday may watch a live-stream on the Fightins Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch channels. Emily Messina, the R-Phils broadcaster, will be joined by local sports broadcaster Paul Roberts for commentary of the action. Fans from near and far can watch the action live on the broadcast.

Luke Holman is set to start for Wilson on Wednesday. He has been the team’s star as the righty has verbally committed to the University of Alabama in the fall. His high velocity fastball allows for a lot of swing and misses, while his curveball has impressive spin and depth. He’s the man to beat on the mound in Berks County this spring.

Holman will face off once again against Matt Gehris, Mifflin’s starter. Gehris boasts a fastball, changeup and brilliant curveball that features explosive movements. He is set to play in college at DeSales University. Mifflin has thirteen seniors on their roster.

The last time these teams, and pitchers, met, Wilson defeated Mifflin 4-2. Holman threw 6 innings; allowing only three hits, no earned runs, and striking out 7. Notably, Wilson’s Ryan Kelly hit a solo home run to right field. Mifflin’s Gehris also recorded 6 IP, striking out an impressive 13. He allowed 5 hits for 4 earned runs. This will be their final meeting of the regular season. Mifflin’s Head Coach is Chris Hole and Sal Raccuglia is the skipper for Wilson.
