BOX SCORE - Reading 6, New Hampshire 7

The Reading Fightin Phils fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7 to 6 on an eventful Thursday evening. A ninth inning rally by New Hampshire sent them home victorious.

The Fightins took an early lead and never relinquished it. Everyone in the starting nine reached base successfully whether it was from a base knock or a walk. The team recorded 11 total hits. Arquimedes Gamboa, Grenny Cumana, and McCarthy Tatum all had two-hit games.

Reading scored two in the first as Bryson Stott and Cumana recorded RBI’s to score Josh Stephen and Gamboa.

New Hampshire cut the lead in half in the bottom half as a sacrifice fly out of LJ Talley plated Austin Martin.

The R-Phils added three more in the third as Jack Conley smoked his second home run over the left field fence, putting Reading up 5-1.

Once again, the Fisher Cats tried to bounce back as Chavez Young sent a solo shot out of the park making it 5-2.

Both teams threatened on the base paths, but no runs came across again until the eighth inning.

In the top half, Cumana batted home Stott who reached on his eleventh double of the season.

Of course, the Fisher Cats Samad Taylor nailed an RBI single to score Otto Lopez who led off the inning with a double. It was 6 to 3 after eight.

In the bottom of the ninth, New Hampshire rallied to get the bases loaded and tied up the ball game at 6 a piece. Kevin Vicuna walked things off with a single to right field to take the win for New Hampshire 7 to 6.

Jack Perkins threw a quality start with six innings allowing five hits and two runs (one earned), striking out five. He handed the ball over to Aneurys Zabala who threw two innings of work, allowing four hits and one run, striking out six batters. Austin Ross came in for the top of the ninth, but loaded the bases and handed the ball off to Jonathan Hennigan. Hennigan allowed the double that tied the game but the runs went back to Ross. The RBI single that walked-off the game was his.
