For the third straight game, the Fightin Phils scored first against the Flying Squirrels. Darick Hall and Jose Pujols hit back-to-back RBI singles off Flying Squirrels starting pitcher Conner Menez with two outs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. The 'Squirrels got a run off Casimiro in the bottom of the fourth inning as Caleb Gindl scored on a RBI groundout by Jonah Arenado .
Dan Slania (1-3) earned the win for the 'Squirrels as he pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Aaron Brown pitched two scoreless innings in relief for Reading. Dillon McNamara earned his seventh save of the season by pitching a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
