Darnell named Batavia Downs POTW

 

Rochester Red Wings pitcher Logan Darnell has been named the Batavia Downs Racetrack and Gaming Player of the Week for the period of July 22-28.

Darnell made two starts in the week, notching wins against Lehigh Valley July 22 and Norfolk July 27. Darnell pitched a total of 13 innings and allowed eight hits, two earned runs and a walk while striking out 10 - this after his poorest start of the season July 18, when he lasted just 1 2/3 innings against Syracuse. The games were part of an important homestand in which the Wings tied Pawtucket for first place, and moved ahead of Norfolk for the wild card spot.

 

Batavia Downs Racetrack and Batavia Downs Gaming present the Red Wings Player of the Week each week during the regular season. Batavia Downs Gaming is a Video Gaming Center owned and operated by Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation in association with the New York Lottery. Batavia Downs Racetrack, America's oldest lighted harness track, features live races beginning July 22 until December 7. There will be Sunday afternoon racing at Batavia Downs in August with a 1:15 p.m. post. Matinees are also scheduled for Labor Day, September 2 and Columbus Day, October 14 also with 1:15 p.m. starts.
