May named Batavia Downs POTW

Rochester Red Wings pitcher Trevor May has been named the Batavia Downs Gaming and Racetrack Player of the Week for the period of June 16-22.

Over a pair of starts last week, May went 2-0 in his two starts. He allowed eight hits and four earned runs over 13 1/3 innings of work, rackiing up 14 strikeouts - including 11 in his win over Pawtucket June 16.

Entering games of June 22, May was second in the International League with 81 strikeouts for the season and fifth in WHIP with a 1.13 mark. May's season record is now 8-4 with a 2.94 ERA.

May, 24, was a 4th round selection of the Phillies in 2008. In 2011 he was Philadelphia's Minor League Pitcher of the Year, and each of the past two seasons he led the Double-A Eastern League in strikeouts. The Longview, Wash. native was traded to Minnesota prior to the 2013 season as part of the deal for Ben Revere.

Batavia Downs Racetrack, America's oldest lighted harness track, features live races beginning July 23 until December 6. There will be Sunday afternoon racing at Batavia Downs from July 27 through August 31 with a 1:15 p.m. post. Matinees are also scheduled for Labor Day, September 1 and Columbus Day, October 13 also with 1:15 p.m. starts.
