Redbirds Shut Out By Round Rock In Series Opener, 9-0

Manny Ramirez Goes 3-For-4, Drives In Three

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds loss their third straight contest with a 9-0 defeat to the Round Rock Express in the opener of a four-game series on Monday night AutoZone Park.

Ryan Feierabend (5-3) scattered six hits while striking out two over seven shutout frames while designated hitter Manny Ramirez went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a walk.

It was the ninth shutout win for Round Rock (58-45) and sixth shutout defeat for Memphis (49-54).

Round Rock jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Leury Garcia led off the game with base hit to right, followed by a Greg Miclat walk. After a Yangervis Solarte groundout to advance the runners, Ramirez hit an RBI groundout to shortstop.

The Express tacked on four runs in the top of the sixth inning for a 5-0 advantage, thanks to four singles and a costly fielding error by Greg Garcia. Marc Rzepczynski ended the jam and stranded both runners.

Jared Hoying went deep off Jorge Rondon in the eighth to extend the lead to 6-0. It was his fifth of the year.

The Express pushed the scored to 9-0 with three runs on three singles off Victor Marte in the ninth.

Scott McGregor (4-6) gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits and a pair of walks in 5 2/3 innings for the loss. He struck out three with 93 pitches, 60 for strikes.

Rondon allowed one run in one inning. Marte gave up three runs on four hits in a frame.

The Redbirds and Express will continue their series at 7:05 pm CT on Tuesday night at AutoZone Park. Left-hander Nick Greenwood will start for Memphis against Round Rock righty Josh Lindblom (7-1, 2.48).
