Renegades Rejoice This Holiday Season as Parenton Pilots the Reigns of the Renegades in 2017

Parenton, Reith, Newman, and Rousseau Return to the Hudson Valley

FISHKILL, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades, Short-Season Class-A Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, are pleased to announce that Tim Parenton will return as Manager for the 2017 Hudson Valley Renegades. Joining Parenton will be returning pitching coach, Brian Reith; new hitting coach, Alejandro Freire; returning athletic trainer, Brian Newman; and returning conditioning coach, Dan Rousseau.

Tim Parenton returns to the Hudson Valley for his fourth season with the Renegades, and fourth within the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Parenton began as assistant coach at Old Dominion University (1991-1995) before joining Mississippi State also as assistant coach (1996-1997). Parenton received his first head coach position at Samford University (1998-2004), where he was named the Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year following his last season. For three years (2007-2010), Parenton coached his alma mater, Jesuit High School in New Orleans. Starting in 2010, Parenton joined the University of North Florida as assistant coach for the next four years (2010-2013).

Also returning to the Renegades will be pitching coach Brian Reith. Reith was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 6th round of the 1996 baseball draft. After spending four seasons within the Yankees organization, in 2000 Reith was traded to the Cincinnati Reds where he made his major league debut in 2001. This season will mark Reith's third year with the Hudson Valley Renegades.

Joining the Renegades this season is hitting coach Alejandro Freire. Freire will be joining the Tampa Bay Rays organization as a coach for the first time in 2017. The Venezuelan native spent nearly twelve seasons in the minor leagues before making his major league debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 2005. Freire has also been a commentator for ESPN Desportes in the recent past.

Brian Newman returns to the Hudson Valley for his fourth consecutive season and sixth within the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Newman began his career with the San Diego Padres (2002) and Milwaukee Brewers (2004) system as the teams' conditioning coach. This will be his eighth season in professional baseball after serving as a graduate assistant at Emory University (2004-06), the athletic trainer at the University of Alabama (2006-10) and the clinical coordinator of sports medicine at New Mexico State University (2010-11). In 2013, Newman spent the season with the Gulf Coast League (GCL) Rays.

Also returning to the Renegades is conditioning coach Dan Rousseau. Rousseau will begin his eighth season within the Tampa Bay Rays Organization, after beginning with the Durham Bulls. Rousseau joined the Princeton Rays in 2009 for one season, before joining the Renegades in the 2013 season.
