Steve Gliner Appointed President of Hudson Valley Renegades

Executive returns home to the Hudson Valley, Yager promoted to Executive Vice President
November 30, 2016

November 30, 2016 - The Hudson Valley Renegades have announced that Steve Gliner has been named President of the team, effective January 1, 2017. Current Senior Vice President and General Manager Eben Yager has been promoted to Executive Vice President, General Manager.

Gliner began his baseball career in 1988 as a Public/Media Relations intern with the Albany-Colonie Yankees. After joining the Yankees full-time for the 1989 season, he moved on to Charleston South Carolina to become the Assistant General Manager of the Charleston Rainbows (now the RiverDogs). He remained with the club for four years and, following the 1993 season, Steve joined the staff of the Hudson Valley Renegades. He began his stint in Hudson Valley as the team's Director of Sales and Marketing, later becoming Assistant General Manager in 1997. Following the 1998 season, Steve was elevated to Vice President/General Manager. In his first season as GM, the Renegades won their first New York-Penn League Championship. Two years later, Steve was named President/General Manager of the Renegades, remaining with the team through the 2003 season.

From October 2003 through 2011 Gliner served as GM of the Ft Myers Miracle, then also owned by the Goldklang Group, being promoted to President in 2011. In 2014 he was appointed to his current role of COO. Gliner will remain in Ft Myers to assist with transitional matters through the end of the calendar year, and will maintain a consulting relationship with the Miracle and Minnesota Twins Spring Training for several months thereafter.

"I am very excited about returning to the Renegades. My ten seasons in the Hudson Valley were some of the most memorable of my career. I am looking forward to reconnecting with fans, sponsors and friends with whom I shared so many wonderful times during my initial tenure with the team, as well as getting to know those whom I have yet to meet. I am very appreciative of the opportunity, once again, to be a part of the Goldklang Group and look forward to working with Eben and the entire Renegades staff."

"Having an opportunity to work alongside Steve is beyond exciting. I've known him well for almost two decades, and we've collaborated often on ideas and operational matters during that time. It's going to be fantastic working in the same office as someone with Steve's energy and creativity. There are exciting changes on the horizon for our fans and partners," said Yager.

"Steve was an integral part of the Goldklang Group for more than twenty years and we're thrilled to welcome him home, along with his wife, Michelle, and sons Aaron and Ross. I have every confidence that the leadership team of Steve and Eben will produce an extraordinarily bright future for the Hudson Valley Renegades," said Marv Goldklang, Chairman.

The Hudson Valley Renegades are a Short-Season Class-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays in the New York-Penn League. Home games are played at Dutchess Stadium located in Wappingers Falls, NY. The 2017 season begins on June 21 at 7:05 pm vs. the Staten Island Yankees. For more information, visit hvrenegades.com.
