RENO, Nev. - October 1st marks the beginning of the MLB postseason, and the Reno Aces will be well represented throughout October. Each of the 10 teams to make the playoffs had at least one player with ties to Reno on their regular-season 40-man roster. Not all teams have yet declared their postseason roster, but a total of 20 former Aces finished the season on a playoff team's 40-man roster. The breakdown of players, and their clubs, can be found below.
Tampa Bay Rays
The AL Wild Card team featured three former aces during the regular season. Anthony Banda, Chaz Row and Michael Perez all landed on the final 40-man roster of the season. In 2013, Roe had a 1.23 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 22 innings for Reno. Perez was in Reno just last season, posting a .284 average with nine doubles in 240 plate appearances.
Oakland A's
The lone Reno representative on Oakland is pitcher Yusmeiro Petit. After a 6.89 ERA in 15.2 innings with Reno during the 2009 season, Petit posted a career-best 2.71 ERA this season. Petit earned 71 punchouts in 83 innings across a league-leading 80 games.
Minnesota Twins
Willians Astudillo suited up for Reno in 2017, earning a .342 average with 22 RBIs in 128 plate appearances. In the bigs this season, Astudillo tallied a .268 average with 21 RBIs in 204 plate appearances for the 101-61 AL Central Champions.
New York Yankees
The AL East champion New York Yankees have Didi Gregorius on the roster, hitting .238 with 16 homers and 1 RBIs in the bigs this season. From 2013-14, Gregorius hit .310 with 25 RBIs for Reno. In three postseasons with the Yankees, Gregorius has three home runs and 10 RBIs.
Houston Astros
The Astros used three pitchers with Reno ties in their league-leading 107-win season. The AL West champions saw Wade Miley and Will Harris each post sub-four ERAs. Harris' 1.50 ERA was a career-best, and Miley's 14 wins were the second most of his career. Miley earned a 3.64 ERA in 54.1 innings with Reno in 2011, while Harris posted a 4.63 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 11.2 innings in 2013. Zach Greinke made one rehab start with the Aces in 2013.
Milwaukee Brewers
Pitcher Chase Anderson is the lone Reno representative on the 25-man Wild Card roster. Anderson had a 5.73 ERA along with 80 strikeouts in 88 innings of work for Reno in 2013. This season, native of Wichita Falls, Texas posted a 4.21 ERA and 124 strikeouts in 139 innings for the Brewers en route to an 89-73 finish in the NL Central.
Washington Nationals
Hosting Anderson and the Brewers are the Nationals, who feature four former aces on their Wild Card roster. Eaton (pictured above) hit .279 with 49 RBIs in over 600 plate appearances for the Nats this season. In 2012, Eaton posted one of the best offensive season in Reno history. The left-handed outfielder set Aces records in batting average (.381), runs (119), hits (186), doubles (46), stolen bases (38) and on-base percentage (.456). Eaton led the PCL in all six categories, leading the team to the only national championship in Reno Aces history. Patrick Corbin, Gerardo Parra and Daniel Hudson will join Eaton on the roster. Jeremy Hellickson was on the team's 40-man roster during the regular season, but did not make the Wild Card roster.
Atlanta Braves
The NL East Champions featured a pair of Aces in the 2019 regular season, with John Ryan Murphy and Ender Inciarte both making appearances. In 204, Inciarte hit .312 with 12 RBIs in 120 plate appearances. This season, Inciarte hit .246 in the bbig leagues with 24 RBIs in 230 plate appearances.
St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals are back in the playoffs after winning the NL Central, and former Aces pitcher Dominic Leone contributed with 46 strikeouts in 40.2 innings. Leone posted a 3.34 ERA with Reno in 2016, striking out 36 in 35 innings.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Los Angeles had two former Aces appear for them during their National League-leading 106-win campaign this season. AJ Pollock recorded a .266 average with 47 RBIs in 342 plate appearances this season, after hitting .318 with 52 RBIs in 2012 with the Aces. Kristopher Negrón hit .318 with 52 RBIs in Reno last season, and now finds himself hitting .259 with seven RBIs for the NL West champions.
