Reno, Nev. - In today's matinee series finale, the Aces won by a score of 8-2. Reno recorded eight runs on 13 hits and were led offensively by Anthony Recker who went 3-for-4 and was a home run short of the cycle. Starting pitcher Alex Young was lights out and went 6.0 innings, allowing one run on seven hits. The win improves the Aces to a record of 42-48 on the season going into the All-Star break.
After being shut down offensively last night, Sacramento jumped out to an early lead on a Eury Pérez RBI single to center field to give the River Cats a 1-0 advantage. Anthony Recker opened the bottom of the second with his first triple of the 2018 campaign. Later in the inning, César Puello hit a deep sacrifice fly to right field which scored Recker to tie the game at one. In the bottom of the fourth frame, Reno scored twice on a pair of RBI doubles by Kevin Cron and Recker to give the Aces a 3-1 lead. Reno tacked on two more in the sixth with an RBI single by Puello and Ildemaro Vargas extending his hit streak to fourteen games with an RBI single to open Reno's lead to 5-1. Young pitched his third quality start of the season, silencing the Sacramento bats as he allowed one run and struck out two River Cat batters. Young's performance allowed him to pick up his third win of his season and evened his record at 3-3. The Aces tallied three more runs in the seventh and Sacramento plated one in the eighth, which would be enough for Reno to enter the All-Star break on an 8-2 victory. Sócrates Brito and Ildemaro Vargas will represent the Biggest Little City in the Triple-A All-Star game which takes place in Columbus, Ohio on July 11th.

Back-to-Back: Ildemaro Vargas was selected to his second consecutive Triple-A All-Star game as a member of the Aces. Vargas is the first Aces player in franchise history to represent the team multiple times at the Triple-A Mid-Summer classic. Last year, in Tacoma, Washington, he went 0-for-1 while teammate Christian Walker went 2-for-4 with a run scored. The infielder is batting .323 against right-handed pitching this season and .335 at Greater Nevada Field. He's played 70 games at shortstop in 2018 and 10 on the other side of the bag at second base. In 617.1 innings at short, he's turned 51 double plays and committed just seven errors. Ildemaro Vargas extended his second-longest hit streak of the season to 13 games last with a 3-for-4 performance. During that span, Vargas is batting .387 (24-for-62) with nine runs scored, nine RBI and three stolen bases. His double off Mike Connolly was his eighth of the season. His longest streak of the season was 16 games from May 29 through June 17. He went 29-for-75 with 12 runs scored and nine RBI.
One-Half Down: As the Aces enter the All-Star break they hold a record of 42-48. The Aces are currently in third place in the Pacific Northern division, 10.5 behind the first place Fresno Grizzlies. Reno hit .283 in the first half with 151 doubles, 36 triples, and 102 home runs. On the bump, the Aces have a team ERA of 5.25 while striking out 720 opposing batters. In the first half of the season, Reno has had three PCL player of the week Kevin Cron (2) and Sócrates Brito (1). Brito also won PCL player of the week and D-backs Player of the month for the month of June. Reno is also sending Socrates Brito and Ildemaro Vargas to Columbus, Ohio for the Triple-A All-Star game.
