RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (32-24, 67-64) were only able to come away with two victories while visiting the Albuquerque Isotopes (27-30, 53-79) in a six-game series at Rio Grande Credit Union Field.

The Aces failed to get an early lead in Tuesday’s series opener, going down 6-2. However, Yilber Diaz delivered an outstanding outing on the mound, allowing two runs across 6 2/3 frames while tying a season-high in strikeouts with 13.

After going down in the opener, Reno tied the series in Wednesday’s matchup in a close 3-1 victory. The starting pitching got the job done on back-to-back nights as Humberto Castellanos shut down the Isotopes through seven innings, limiting his opponent to one run while punching out five and walking three. Blaze Alexander was productive on offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

The BLC-Nine took their second and final win in Friday night’s 8-3 win. Albuquerque scored their only runs of the game in the first inning off Aces starter Logan Allen, but the lefty quickly settled in after that, coming out with the win after punching out 10 across five frames. Reno collected 13 hits, including five multi-hit performances. Tim Tawa had a big day at the plate, leading the offensive surge with a two-homerun performance. The Stanford product finished his best showing as a member of the Aces, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Tristin English continued to swing a hot bat, smashing his 15th home run in the top of the sixth.

Despite a slow offensive series for Reno, Bryson Brigman kept it going at the plate, going 6-for-20 (.300) with a double and a home run. The 29-year-old has been a great addition to the lineup as he has hit .335/.391/.497 with eight doubles, six home runs, and 33 RBI in the second half of the season.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday, September 3, to host the El Paso Chihuahuas, the San Diego Padres Triple-A affiliate. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
