Fresh off a six-game homestand against the Round Rock Express, the Reno Aces will hit the road for a six-game series against a divisional rival, the Tacoma Rainiers (9-21), Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, starting Tuesday, May 10.

The Aces are coming off a six-game home series against the Round Rock Express, where Reno took two of the six games.

SCOUTING TACOMA

The Rainiers recently finished a six-game road series against the Salt Lake Bees, where Tacoma took two out of six games.

Tacoma’s resident leadoff man, Sam Haggerty, sets the tone for the Rainiers’ offense with a .312 batting average, ranked ninth in the Pacific Coast League and ranks fifth in stolen bases (8).

Zach Green leads the Rainiers in homers (6) and RBI (22). Green has hit two homers and plated four runs in his past two games.

The lone Rainier who is a member of Seattle’s Top 30 Prospects List is pitcher Matt Brash, the organization’s No. 7 prospect. After being sent down from Seattle, Brash has made one appearance in Tacoma, where he tossed two innings of one-run ball in relief on two hits and struck out three batters.

ACES HIGH

In six games played against Round Rock, Jake McCarthy batted .522 (12-for-23) with a home run, five RBI, five runs scored and swiped two bases.

Before he was called up to Arizona Sunday, Alek Thomas had a strong showing in his last four games with Reno and hit .312 (5-for-16) with a homer, four RBI and six runs scored. In his MLB debut Sunday, Thomas went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Jake Hager hit .500 (3-for-6) in three games played with four RBI, two runs scored and a double.

Kevin Ginkel continues to impress in the Aces bullpen. The righty appeared in two games, tossed two scoreless innings in relief, allowed two hits, and struck out four batters. Ginkel has not allowed a run in his past four appearances.

Ranked ninth in the Pacific Coast League in ERA (3.95), Tommy Henry has allowed three earned runs or fewer in his last four starts. Henry earned his first Triple-A win on Thursday, May 5, against Round Rock with 5.2 innings of three-run ball on eight hits and struck out four batters.

On Tuesday, May 10, both teams square off at Cheney Stadium, with the first pitch at 11:35 a.m.
