Aces’ offense powers to four wins and 71 runs scored in Las Vegas

RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces asserted its dominance in Summerlin, taking four games from the Las Vegas Aviators and scoring 15 or more runs in each of the final three contests.

Blake Lalli’s club racked up 52 runs scored, 11 home runs and put forth a slash line of .444/.519/.800 in the final three games of the series.

For the first time in franchise history, the Aces registered at least 15 tallies and 19 hits in three straight games.

Camden Duzenack, Matt Lipka and Josh VanMeter each posted batting averages of .500 or over while each recorded 10 or more hits. Duzenack put forth a 10-for-16 (.625) performance in three starts against Las Vegas, smacking three homers while recording seven runs scored and eight RBIs. Lipka racked up a team-high 14 hits in 24 at-bats while driving in seven RBIs. VanMeter led all Aces with 10 RBIs while posting a .500 batting average.

The Aces outscored the Aviators, 71-58, in the six-game set while outhitting the opposition, 92-67. Reno recorded 10 or more hits in each contest and had all nine batters register at least one base knock in two games.

In the series opener, Reno erased an early 3-0 deficit to down the home club, 7-5. Daulton Varsho, Seth Beer and Josh VanMeter each roped two-run home runs in the contest while Andrew Young capped off the scoring with a solo shot in the seventh.

After dropping the next two contests, 8-3 and 18-9, respectively, the Biggest Little City’s team started its current three-game winning streak with a 15-7 victory on June 13.

All nine Aces registered at least one hit and one run in the contest to slash a three-run deficit for the second time during the season. Varsho and Henry Ramos registered four RBIs apiece while the pair alongside Juniel Querecuto put forth a three-hit performance.

On June 14, Reno and Las Vegas put on a slugfest in Summerlin, scoring a combined 37 runs for the most in professional baseball this season with the Aces coming out on top, 21-16. The 21 tallies scored by Blake Lalli’s club were one run shy of tying the franchise record while setting a season-high mark across all levels. The Aces also erased a six-run deficit and won for the second time this season after allowing 11 runners to score in the third inning.

VanMeter knocked in five of the team’s first six runs before the Aviators took its 12-6 edge after three frames. Reno tacked on 14 runs in the final three innings to continue its stretch of hot-hitting after the sixth frame. Six Aces scored at least three runs in the contest while all nine players for the second consecutive game recorded at lead one base knock.

Reno closed out the series with a decisive 16-4 victory, scoring 10 unanswered runs through the first four innings before tacking on six after the fifth. The Aces smashed five home runs, including Duzenack’s team-leading seventh homer of the season.
