RENO, Nev.–The Reno Aces Baseball Club has been awarded the 2013 Triple-A All-Star Game, it was announced in a press conference held this morning at Aces Ballpark.

The Aces—entering their fourth season of Triple-A baseball in 2012—will play host to the multi-day all-star celebration in July, 2013. The special announcement was made this morning by Reno Aces Managing Partner Stuart Katzoff, Pacific Coast League President Branch Rickey, International League President Randy Mobley, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell and Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority President & CEO Chris Baum.

"We are all very proud and excited to bring an event of this magnitude to Northern Nevada," Katzoff said. "The Triple-A All-Star Game gives our tremendous fan base the opportunity to see some of the game's premier up-and-coming players, while showcasing our community to a national audience."

The annual Triple-A Home Run Derby is set for Monday, July 15, 2013 and the nationally-televised 26th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. In addition to those two landmark events, the all-star celebration will include several days of unique entertainment for fans of all ages that will showcase the Northern Nevada region, including a fan fest that will feature interactive games, displays, autograph signings and historical memorabilia.

Fans, media outlets and professional baseball executives from around the country will converge in Reno for Minor League Baseball's signature event.

"I am looking forward to the Aces hosting the 2013 All-Star Game, in particular, for giving the broader cross-section of Triple-A baseball owners and executives a closer view of the wonderful way the franchise has come of age in this city, this community, and enjoying the magnificent achievement of the stadium and the Freight House District integration," Rickey said. "This is a great opportunity for Reno to show off across baseball circles and the broader exposure that will be gained through the press and television. It will be a great time for Triple-A Baseball."

The Triple-A All-Star Game features a matchup of the game's most promising young stars from the Pacific Coast League and International League. Since the event began in 1988, 77 Triple-A All-Stars have gone on to play in the Major League All-Star Game, including Derek Jeter, Pedro Martinez, Mike Piazza, Chase Utley and Joey Votto.

As part of the Triple-A All-Star festivities, the Aces will commit to a legacy project-a community-driven initiative that will leave a lasting impact on the region in the name of this once-in-a-generation event.

"We're grateful for being selected to host this event," Katzoff said. "And we're committed to making this a celebration that people in Northern Nevada will never forget."

Since its opening in 2009, Aces Ballpark has been lauded nationally for its unique blend of state-of-the-art amenities and classic, intimate atmosphere. Its concentrated location in Downtown Reno and accompanying Freight House District make Aces Ballpark the ideal location for the multi-day event.

Detailed event schedules and ticket information will be made available in the coming months. The 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game will be played on Wednesday, July 11 at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY.
