Reno, Nev. - Reno Aces outfielder Yasmany Tomás has been named the Pacific Coast League's Player of the Week for the period of May 20 - May 26, the League Office announced today.
Tomás, 28, went 12-for-30 (.400) last week with 13 RBI, 10 runs scored and seven home runs. He led all of baseball (Majors and Minors) with seven homers and was tied for the most total bases (37) with Joshua Rojas of Corpus Christi. Tomás joins Kevin Cron (May 13-19) as the only Aces players to win Player of the Week this season. The Cron/Tomás duo are the second pair of Aces teammates to win back-to-back PCL Player of the Week awards (Nick Evans - May 18-24, 2015 & Jamie Romak - May 25-31, 2015).

On Monday, the 28-year-old native of Cuba hit four homers in a single game. Tomás hit a home run on the first pitch of the at-bat in the first, third, fifth, and eight innings and finished with eight RBI. He became the first player in franchise history to hit four homers in a single game. It is unclear if the feat happened previously in the minors, though the pool of games in which such a feat would even be possible is relatively small. According to information compiled by the Society for American Baseball Research, there have been only 135 professional games in which an individual player hit four home runs, dating back to Jack Crooks of the Omaha Omahogs in 1889.

Tomás homered in a career-best four consecutive games last week (5/20 - 4, 5/21 - 1, 5/22 - 1, 5/23 - 1). The 6-foot-2 slugger is batting .302 this season with Triple-A Reno and has 16 home runs, 42 RBI and 118 total bases in 49 games played.
The Aces finish their homestand tonight against Las Vegas and hit the road Wednesday for Albuquerque. Tomás and company will return home Tuesday, June 4 for a three-game set against the Nashville Sounds with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. For tickets and information visit renoaces.com or call (775) 334-7000.
