Eventful homestand awaits as The Diamond opens at full capacity

FUNNVILLE - The Richmond Flying Squirrels will play a stretch of 12 home games in 13 days beginning with a six-game series against the Altoona Curve, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, on Tuesday. The series against the Curve is highlighted by multiple giveaways, a Business Person's Special day game, a peanut-free game with postgame fireworks and the return of postgame kids run the bases.
Per updated guidelines issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia that went into effect May 28, The Diamond will open at 100 percent capacity for the first time since Sept. 2, 2019. Fans can purchase tickets online at SquirrelsBaseball.com/Tickets, by phone at 804-359-FUNN (3866) or in person at the Flying Squirrels offices.
The Flying Squirrels open the homestand with a salute to legendary performer Johnny Cash featuring a bobblehead giveaway of mixed nut racer Johnny Cashew to the first 1,000 fans 15 and older presented by Pepsi. The item is the second in a series of four connectable-base bobblehead giveaways joining the Almond Brothers (previous giveaway), John Walnut (July 27) and Peanut (August 17).
The team will host its first midweek day game on Wednesday as part of a Business Person's Special presented by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Gates will open at 11 a.m. with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 p.m. Wednesday's game is also another Wine & K-9s event with wine specials from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dogs permitted to attend the game. Please ask for a dog-friendly seating section if accompanied by a pet.
The next Squirrel Tails Kids Club giveaway is scheduled for Sunday as the first 500 fans 14 and younger get a neon yellow Funnville Field Day T-shirt presented by Nesquik. Additionally, kids 14 and younger are invited to run the bases after the game presented by Richmond Family Magazine.

Wine & K-9s: Enjoy $5 glasses of wine and $6 wine slushies from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (Available at the wine cart located near fan services on the main concourse) Plus, dogs are admitted free in Funnville every Wednesday home game! Please request a dog-friendly seating section (101-103, 203-204 and first-base General Admission) if accompanied by a pet.

In-Your-Face Fireworks & Peanut-Free Night: Enjoy fireworks from up close and inside the fences following the game but no peanuts during the game. While reasonable efforts will be made to restrict peanut products including performing additional cleaning in advance of the game, we cannot guarantee the absence of peanut particles and residue. Fans with peanut allergies should take all precautions that they customarily take in public places with potential exposure.

Friday Happy Hour: Enjoy happy hour drink specials from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each Friday home game in Funnville. Specials include $2 12-ounce domestic beers at all concession stands, upper-level beer carts and The Thirsty Acorn as well as $2 fountain sodas at the Pepsi Fountain located on main concourse behind Section 110 near the Papa John’s stand.

Postgame Kids Run the Bases presented by Richmond Family Magazine: Kids 14 and younger are invited to run the bases after the game. Kids wanting to run the bases are asked to line up outside the Squirrels Nest Team Store. Following the conclusion of the game, kids will be allowed to enter the field through the Section 103-104 gate. Parents and/or guardians can meet their child/children at the Section 113-114 gate afterward.
