DAYTON, Ohio -- For the second consecutive game the Quad Cities River Bandits lost despite scoring first and outhitting the Dayton Dragons, falling 3-1 Friday on calm evening at Fifth Third Field. Jorge Alcala allowed just one run on two hits while striking out seven over a career-high 6.2 innings on the mound for the River Bandits. Spencer Johnson had a triple and scored the only run for Quad Cities, taking a brief lead in the seventh inning.

Quad Cities (16-17) has lost six of their last seven games and are below .500 for the first time since April 17. Daz Cameron doubled with two outs in the seventh to plate the only Quad Cities run in the game but Dayton (24-11) answered when Jose Siri led off the home side with an infield single, stole two bases and scored on a sacrifice fly from Tyler Stephenson . The Dragons then loaded the bases in the eighth off of Lucas Williams (0-1) and Siri singled to center to give Dayton the lead. A sacrifice fly from Taylor Trammell would provide what proved to be unnecessary insurance.
Aaron Fossas (2-0) got the final two outs of the eighth inning to strand an inherited runner in scoring position to get the win. Brian Hunter retired the side in order in the ninth for his first save of the year. The win clinches a season series victory for Dayton, the first time since 2013 the Bandits have dropped a season series to their Eastern Division opponent.
Cameron's double extended his hitting streak to four games, the longest streak of the year for him. The Bandits wasted a leadoff triple from Johnson in the fifth, unable to break through against Dayton starter Andrew Jordan , who allowed one run on three hits and a pair of walks in 6.2 innings of work. Rodrigo Ayarza had two singles in the game for Quad Cities, the only Bandit with multiple hits in the game.
The Bandits have not been swept in a series this season and look to salvage a game in Dayton on Saturday in a 6:07 p.m. CT start in the series finale. LHP Ryan Hartman (3-1, 3.51) gets the start for Quad Cities against RHP Tony Santillan (2-2, 3.55) for Dayton.
