The Bandits (41-22. 78-53) were shell-shocked by five quick Kernels (32-31, 71-62) runs over the first two innings.
Montano (8-3) hurled three scoreless innings, stranding the bases loaded in the fifth, and allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five Kernels.
The Bandits can take the series, earn a split of the 2017 season series with Cedar Rapids, and clinch the best record in the Western Division for the full 2017 season with a win in Monday's series finale. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. CDT and gates open at 5:35 for a Beers and Brats Monday.
