RIVER CATS HONORED BY ROGER DICKINSON AT 2014 CALIFORNIA SMALL BUSINESS DAY

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - On Monday, June 16, the Sacramento River Cats were honored by Assemblyman Roger Dickinson at California Small Business Day. As Small Business of the Year in District 7, the River Cats were celebrated for their hard work and dedication to the community.

"I am pleased to present the Sacramento River Cats with the California Small Business of the Year award for Assembly District 7," Dickinson said. "I commend Art and Susan Savage, Bob Hemond, and Warren Smith for their unparalleled leadership in bringing Triple-A baseball back to Sacramento. On behalf of the constituents of District 7 and the entire Sacramento region, we salute our four-time Pacific Coast League champions. We also thank the River Cats organization which, through the River Cats Foundation, has contributed to numerous community improvement programs and facilities throughout our area."

California Small Business Day honored 75 small business for their contribution to the state's economy. Small business contributes 75-percent of California's gross state product and over half of the state's private-sector jobs. From hardware stores to manufacturers, small businesses are engrained in California's communities and economy.

"California's small businesses are the economic engine of our state," said Betty Jo Toccoli, president of the California Small Business Association. "The Sacramento River Cats were celebrated for their successful small business and contributions to the community."

The Sacramento River Cats-located at Raley Field in the city of West Sacramento-are the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, and joined the Sacramento community in 2000. Since they were founded in the year 2000, no other minor league baseball team has welcomed more fans through its gates. The River Cats Foundation-the club's charitable arm-gives back to the community each year, having donated more than $1.7 million to area organizations since its inception.

"The River Cats are very appreciative of this honor," said team CEO and majority owner Susan Savage. "We value all contributions small businesses make to our region and the economy. We are proud to represent Assembly District 7 in accepting this award."
