August 18, 2013

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The River Cats' 5-4 win against the Tucson Padres on Sunday night at Raley Field was Sacramento's tenth home win in a row, extending the franchise record.

The T-Pads took an early lead in the second inning on a solo home run off the bat of Brandon Allen. The River Cats responded in the third inning with a three-run rally-Daric Barton singled to center field scoring Andy Parrino, then Shane Peterson doubled to score Jemile Weeks and Barton.

In the eighth, Reymond Fuentes scored on Dean Anna's RBI fielder's choice to cut the River Cats lead to 5-2. The T-Pads continued to push in the ninth inning, scoring two runs off River Cats closer Brian Gordon, who registered his team-leading 18th save.

River Cats starter Andrew Werner earned his 11th win on the season, allowing only one run on eight hits with two pickoffs in six innings of work. In the third inning, Werner picked off Daniel Robertson and Fuentes who each tried to steal second. The loss was charged to T-Pads starter Brandon Kloess who falls to 3-6 while posting a 4.56 ERA.
