CHARLESTON, S.C. - The trade deadline has already started to send waves up and down the Yankees minor league ladder. After the deal that sent Yankees' No. 3 prospect Blake Rutherford to the Chicago White Sox early on Wednesday morning, the New York Yankees have announced that right-hander Adonis Rosa rejoins the RiverDogs roster in advance of the first-place club's seven-game homestand.
Rutherford, rated as the No. 30 overall prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, was part of a seven-player deal that brought the Yankees infielder Todd Frazier, along with former RiverDog pitchers David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle. Right-hander Tyler Clippard, lefty Ian Clarkin, and outfielder Tito Polo all were sent to the South Siders along with Rutherford in the blockbuster deal.
Rutherford, 20, batted .281 with two home runs and 30 RBI in his first full season in the Yankees system with Charleston while posting a .342 on-base percentage and slugging .391 in 71 games. Named a mid-season All-Star, the Simi Valley, Calif. outfielder taken 18th overall in last year's draft recently had an 11-game hitting streak end on Monday in Lakewood after batting 17-for-46 (.370) over a career-best span that included a game-winning go-ahead homer on Sunday.

Rosa returns from Scranton after his second spot start this season with the Railriders. The 22-year-old Dominican worked 5 2/3 scoreless innings before yielding a two-out, two-run homer to former Major Leaguer Pedro Álvarez. Rosa now holds a 1-0 record with a 1.50 ERA in two career Triple-A appearances.
With their retooled roster, the RiverDogs begin a three-game series with the Hagerstown Suns, the Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, on Wednesday night at Joe Riley Park. First pitch is at 7:05pm. The game can be tuned into on WTMA 1250 AM in the tri-county area and streaming online on riverdogs.com and via the RiverDogs station on the TuneIn Radio app.
