Seven-Game Homestand Coming Up at The Joe

Riley Park welcomes super heroes, students, teachers, and international appreciation nights
April 24, 2014

CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs will open a seven-game homestand at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Tuesday, April 29 after their week-long road trip ends over the weekend. This homestand, which runs through Monday, May 5, includes visits from the Augusta GreenJackets and the Delmarva Shorebirds.

Tuesday, April 29, 7:05 pm: The homestand begins with Harris Teeter 2-for-$20 Date Night Tuesday, presented by Nash FM, as well as Super Hero Night. Couples that show their VIC Card at the box office receive two tickets to the game, two tacos, two fountain drinks, and one nacho tray for just $20. Charlie T. RiverDog needs some "super" help on Super Hero Night to protect Charleston from certain doom. The Joker has escaped from Gotham City and has taken refuge in The Joe, and it's up to Charlie to thwart his diabolical plans. Charlie will need to turn a young fan into his sidekick to help him stop the Joker and save the day.

Wednesday, April 30, 11:05 am: Children throughout the Lowcountry will pack the park for the second and final Education Day of the season. Seniors Eat Free as all senior citizens (age 65 & older) that arrive at The Joe before 11 am receive a voucher for a free hot dog, chips, and a fountain drink, courtesy of HealthSouth.

Thursday, May 1, 7:05 pm: Celebrate Happy Hour with the RiverDogs on Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, presented by 95SX. Visit the Ashley View Pub for $1 drafts, entertainment from DJ Natty Heavy, and Wild Wing Café is hosting a wing-eating contest. Charleston County School District Educators Night is highlighted by the "Teacher of the Year" announcement, with the lucky honoree receiving a one-year lease for a new Mini Cooper from Mini of Charleston. The FHF Blood Drive will accept donations from 1-6 pm in the parking lot, and everyone who donates blood receives a ticket voucher to any remaining RiverDogs home game and a drawstring bag. Enjoy the music of HoneySmoke in a postgame concert adjacent to the Beer Garden, presented by Palmetto Brewery and Awendaw Green. HoneySmoke is a self-described "Delta/Island/Pluff-Mud/Lowcountry-Western Blues band."

Friday, May 2, 7:05 pm: ISHPI Red Shirt Friday, presented by 103.5 WEZL, focuses on military appreciation and support. Wear red to the game and save $1 off your ticket purchase at the box office or donate that dollar to the Canines for Veterans and Folds of Honor charities. The RiverDogs will wear red jerseys and honor a military family at Friday's game, which is also sponsored by the Dermatology & Laser Center of Charleston. Head to the Ashley View Pub for $3 Aluminum Pint Night from Miller and Coors. Gildan is also going to be on hand to give away complementary clothing samples. Stay at The Joe following the contest and watch the sky light up over the scenic Ashley River during another fantastic fireworks display.

Saturday, May 3, 6:05 pm: Social Media Saturday encourages fans to make requests to the RiverDogs on Facebook and Twitter for music, promotions and other ballpark features. Fans whose requests are chosen might see their name pop up on the new video board. Saturday's action features an international flavor as the RiverDogs celebrate Greek Heritage Night. It is also Moncks Corner Night at The Joe. After Saturday's game, kids can run around the bases.

Sunday, May 4, 5:05 pm: It's a Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission and Crews Subaru Kids Club Sunday, presented by Y102.5. Kids Eat Free courtesy of Pepsi, with a coupon for a free hot dog, fountain drink, and chips for all children in attendance. Plus, parking is free and all members of Charlie's Kids Club receive free entry to the game. Charleston will don its specially-made seersucker uniforms on Seersucker Sunday. Fans that wear seersucker to the game can save $1 off their ticket purchase at the box office or donate that dollar to the Preservation Society of Charleston and the Historic Charleston Foundation. Michael Saboe, the Dean of the Culinary Institute of Charleston, will serve as the celebrity Smokin' Chef and provide a special smoked food item from the RiverDogs' new meat smoker. Join the Ancient Order of Hibernians and enjoy Irish Heritage Night. Also coming to The Joe are participants from Low Country Harley-Davidson's "Ride to the RiverDogs." Postgame autographs from the RiverDogs wrap up another busy Sunday of baseball.

Monday, May 5, 7:05 pm: The homestand wraps up with Dollar Dogs and Beers Night. One-dollar hot dogs and drafts are available in the Ashley View Pub, courtesy of Coors and Z93 Jamz. A swing of international celebrations during this homestand closes with Cinco de Mayo festivities and an abundance of additional features. The RiverDogs are also hosting "Dogs with a Cause," that features Tri-County Family Ministries.
