CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees have announced that RHP Raynel Espinal has been added to the Charleston RiverDogs roster, replacing LHP Phillip Diehl who was placed on the temporarily inactive list after tossing four shutout innings in yesterday's loss in Augusta.

Espinal, 23, enters his fifth season with the Yankees organization after splitting time between four different clubs in 2016. The native of Santiago, Dominican Republic combined to go 1-10 with a 4.63 ERA in 16 games, 12 starts between his time with Short Season Staten Island and rookie ball levels. He posted 65 strikeouts to just nine walks in 70 innings of work, good for the second-highest strikeout-to-walk ratio in the Yankees system (7.22).

Espinal will reinforce a Charleston club looking to bounce back from their first string of back-to-back losses of the season after wrapping a road trip in which they went 3-4. The RiverDogs (8-6) begin a four-game homestand tonight, taking on the Asheville Tourists (6-8) from April 20-23 at The Joe. Charleston currently sits in second place in the Southern Division, one game back of Columbia, Greenville, and Rome.

RiverDogs tickets, including options for the all-new Riley Park Club, are now available and can be secured by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com. Those that can't make it to the park can follow every pitch of the RiverDogs season on WTMA 1250 AM in the tri-county area or by streaming online at riverdogs.com and the TuneIn Radio App by searching "RiverDogs."
