THIS DAY IN INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE HISTORY
1955 - Well on his way to a fantastic season at the plate, Columbus outfielder Russ Sullivan wallops three home runs in a 17-8 rout of Richmond. The left-handed slugger hits all three blasts off of southpaw pitching, and does so in consecutive innings (the 5th, 6th, and 7th). Less than a month later, Sullivan would victimize the Montreal Royals for three homers in a game. On July 17, he led off the 2nd, 4th, and 6th innings with home runs. Sullivan would finish the 1953 campaign with a .319 average, 29 HR, and 94 RBI.
