Rochester native Culver goes deep for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre hit three home runs off Felix Jorge, including a long, two-run blast in the 4th inning from Rochester native Cito Culver, and the RailRiders clinched the International League North with a 5-3 win over the Red Wings Monday night at PNC Field.

The RailRiders (84-50) scored a run in each of the first three innings and added two in the 4th against Jorge (0-1). Jake Cave hit a solo homered in the 1st, Mason Williams went deep in the 2nd and Culver's two-run blast in the 4th made it 5-0 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Cave also added an RBI single in the 3rd.
Jorge, making just his second Triple-A start, allowed five runs on seven hits while striking out two in 4.0 innings. The three home runs surrendered match a career-high, set earlier this season in his second Major League start on July 7 vs. Baltimore.
The Red Wings (77-58) struggled to get anything going early against Bryan Mitchell (3-3). Rochester tallied just two singles off Mitchell through the first four innings.
Leonardo Reginatto continuing his hot hitting with his second single of the game in the 5th and Anthony Recker followed with a walk. Engelb Vielma then doubled in a run to put the Wings on the board and J.B. Shuck added a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Reginatto walked to open the 7th and later scored on a Vielma sacrifice fly to cap the scoring at 5-3.Nick Rumbelow, a dominant reliever for the RailRiders this season, tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to earn his fifth save. The only blemish on his line was a single by Matt Hague to open the 9th inning. Hague was erased on a double play to end the game.
Yohan Pino (2.0), Buddy Boshers (0.2) and Drew Rucinski (1.1) all tossed scoreless relief for the Red Wings.
Despite the loss, Rochester's magic number to clinch the Wild Card shrank to five after Lehigh Valley lost earlier in the night to Syracuse.
Next Home Game: The Red Wings end the regular season home schedule with four games against Pawtucket (Red Sox) on Friday, September 1 at 7:05 p.m. at Frontier Field.
