The Rochester Red Wings opened their final series of the season Monday night against the Worcester Red Sox at Frontier Field with a 6-1 loss in a rain-shortened contest.

LHP MacKenzie Gore made his fourth rehab outing with the Wings, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing six runs on six hits, walking one and striking out three batters.

A second inning home run gave the Red Sox a quick 1-0 lead.

In response, 2B Jake Alu cranked his 15th double of the season to kick off the bottom of the second. The left hand hitting Alu has now reached base safely in 19-straight games dating back to 9/4. Alu has also collected a hit in 13 straight games, just one game shy of his season long hit streak, which was 14 games split between two different levels (AA, AAA).

With Alu on third, LF Nick Banks would plate the run on a sacrifice fly to tie the game.

The Wings stumbled in the top of the fourth inning. Two two-run home runs capped a five run inning for the Red Sox, giving them a 6-1 advantage.

RHP Curtis Taylor and RHP Tommy Romero came in to relieve Gore, combining for 1.2 scoreless innings.

The game would be called with one out in the top of the sixth inning, as the Red Sox best the Wings by a final score of 6-1.

The Wings are set to continue their final series of the season Tuesday against Worcester at 6:05 p.m., with RHP Joan Adon (2-2, 4.34) set to take the ball.
