The Rochester Red Wings beat the Charlotte Knights 3-2 Sunday afternoon at Frontier Field.

Charlotte struck first in the top of the second inning when Dustin Garneau hit an RBI single off Wings' starter Zack Littell to score Matt Skole, who reached on a double earlier in the inning, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead.
The Knights were threatening again in the top of the fourth with a runner on first but a diving catch in left by LaMonte Wade saved a potential run-scoring opportunity from Charlotte.
The Red Wings took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when Jeremy Hazelbaker hit a two-run shot to right field off Knights' starter Spencer Adams. Hazelbaker's homer also scored Andy Wilkins who reached base on balls in the previous at bat, making the score 2-1 Wings.
A solo home run by Jose Rondon in the top of the sixth tied the game 2-2.
Nick Gordon led off the bottom of the sixth for the Wings with a double to left field, and was advanced to third on a fly ball to deep right field by Willians Astudillo. After Wade reached on a base on balls, Jon Kemmer stepped up to the plate and hit a single to right, scoring Gordon and giving the Wings a 3-2 lead.
Jake Reed took the mound in the top of the seventh for the Wings, ending Littell's outing. Littell allowed five hits and one home run in 6.0 innings pitched, giving up two runs, both of which were earned, walking one and striking out seven on 94 pitches, 68 for strikes.
Adams' day was done for the Knights after 6.0 innings pitched, having given up five hits and one home run, earning all three runs he allowed, walking three and striking out 2 on 89 pitches, 56 of which were strikes. Rob Scahill took the mound in relief for Charlotte.

THIS DAY IN INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE HISTORY
1929 - Reading outfielder George Quellich caps off one of the most impressive streaks in IL history by blasting a grand slam against the Montreal Royals. The four-bagger is his 15th consecutive hit, a record that has never been bested at any level of professional baseball. During Reading's game against Toronto August 9, Quellich collected three hits in a row (a single, a double, and a home run). The next day against Montreal he went 6-6 with five singles and a homer, followed by two more home runs and two more singles the following day. He singles and hits the grand slam on August 12 before finally being retired in his third at-bat by Elam Vangilder. Immediately following the end of his incredible string, Quellich goes 13 for his next 18. For the year he hits .347 with 31 HR and 130 RBI. His only taste of the Major Leagues would come two years later with Detroit.
