April 14, 2014

Top pitching prospect Raul Alcantara was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week on Monday, April 14th. The right hander from the Dominican Republic jumped into Double-A with a pair of wins against Arkansas and NW Arkansas on opening week. Alcantara struck out eight and walked two in his two wins last week. The 21-year old was acquired from the Boston Red Sox with outfielder Josh Reddick and current teammate Miles Head for pitcher Andrew Bailey and outfielder Ryan Sweeney in December of 2011.

Alcantara is scheduled to make his next start on Friday night at Security Bank Ballpark against the San Antonio Missions. The RockHounds are currently 6-4 and trail Corpus Christi by two games in the Texas League South Division.

James Ramsey (Springfield Cardinals) was named the Texas League player of the week on Monday.

The RockHounds go for their fifth straight win against the NW Arkansas Naturals on Monday night in Springdale, Arkansas. Drew Granier will make his third start of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM from Arvest Ballpark and can be heard online or on KCRS AM 550. Subscribe to MiLB.tv and watch every RockHounds game, home and away this season.
