Fifth Win in a Row for Rome

The Rome Braves (21-26) defeated the Charleston RiverDogs (23-24) 3-1 Thursday night in game one of a four game series. It was Rome's fifth consecutive win.  

Charleston got on the board in the second inning when Dustin Fowler reached base on a fielding error and later scored on a bases loaded walk for the 1-0 lead. The Braves answered in the bottom of the frame when Carlos Franco doubled and later scored on a fielding error to tie the contest 1-1. Rome took the lead in the third when Connor Oliver singled, moved to third on a throwing error, and scored on a fielding error to make the score 2-1.The Braves added an insurance run in the eighth when Oliver doubled, reached third on a sacrifice bunt by Johan Camargo, and went home on a balk for the final 3-1 victory.

Matt Marksberry (5-7) picks up the win while Luis Niebla (1-1) is charged with the loss.

Rome and Charleston square off again tomorrow night at 7 o'clock. Myron Noodleman will be on hand to perform during the game.
