Hot Sunday Game Goes to West Virginia

The Rome Braves (13-24) to the West Virginia Power (18-19) on Sunday afternoon by a score of 5-4.

West Virginia got started in the first on an RBI single by Edwin Espinal for the 1-0 score. The Braves notched a run in the bottom of the frame on a run scoring ground out by Sean Godfrey to tie the game 1-1. The Power took a 2-1 lead in the second on a run scoring ground out from Jeff Roy. Rome was tied the contest 2-2 in the fifth on an RBI single by Johan Camargo.

West Virginia regained the lead in the sixth on a two run double by Wyatt Mathisen for the 4-2 score. Rome rallied again to tie the contest in the seventh on an RBI triple by Jake Schrader and an RBI sacrifice fly by Ross Wilson. The game would remain tied into the ninth when Austin Meadows reached base on a single, moved to third on a single by Espinal, and was able to score on a sacrifice fly by Reese McGuire for the 5-4 score. Rome went quietly in the bottom of the inning for the final 5-4 West Virginia victory.

Henry Hirsch (2-4) gets the win while Pete Perez (0-4) is charged with the loss. Jake Schrader went three for four with one RBI and Connor Lien was four for five. Sean Godfrey and Johan Camargo each had hits to extend their streaks to 14 games.
