Pitchers Duel Goes to Charleston, 2-1

The Charleston RiverDogs (25-24) defeated the Rome Braves (21-28) by a score of 2-1 on Saturday night in front of 3,305 fans.

The RiverDogs struck in the first when Michael O'Neill and Dustin Fowler singled and later scored on a double by Miguel Andujar for the 2-0 lead. Rome notched their only of the game in the second when Jake Schrader reached on a double, advanced to third on a single by Carlos Franco, and crossed on a run scoring ground out by Alejandro Piloto for the 2-1 score. The rest of the game would be a pitcher's duel as the RiverDogs held off Rome for the final 2-1 victory.

Angel Rincon (4-3) picks up the win while Yean Carlos Gil (5-6) is charged with the loss. Gil recorded five strike outs over five innings.

The series concludes tomorrow at 2 pm. Kids can run the bases following the game.
