Walk Off Win for Braves, 6-5

The Rome Braves (22-28) defeated the Charleston RiverDogs (25-25) 6-5 in walk off fashion on Sunday afternoon to split the four game series.

The Braves took an early lead with three runs in the second on an RBI single by Carlos Sanchez and a two run single by Connor Lien. Charleston would not see the scoreboard until the sixth when a run crossed on a sacrifice fly by Eduardo DeOleo for the 3-1 score.

The RiverDogs offense struck again in the eighth when Tyler Wade singled and later crossed on a single by Mike Ford. Ford then scored on a single by DeOleo and DeOleo was brought home on a home run over the right field wall by Yeicok Calderon (1) for the 5-3 lead. Rome would not be denied and plated two runs in the bottom of the frame on a two run homer from Sean Godfrey (3).

The contest would remain scoreless until the bottom of the 11th when Sal Giardina reached on an infield single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Sanchez, went to third on a single by Trevor Sprowl, and was able to cross on a sacrifice fly by Lien to give the Braves the final 6-5 walk off victory.

Andy Otero (2-4) picks up the win while Even Rutckyj (3-2) is charged with the loss.
