2017 Season Ends with a 4-2 Win

On the final day of the 2017 season, the Rome Braves defeated the Columbia Fireflies 4-2 Monday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 2,077. 

On the final day of the 2017 season, the Rome Braves defeated the Columbia Fireflies 4-2 Monday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 2,077. 

The Braves ended the season winning three in a row to finish with a 36-33 record in the second half and 74-65 overall.   
Rome jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning and never looked back as Lucas Herbert singled home Isranel Wilson for the 1-0 lead. The Braves scored twice in the fifth on a wild pitch to score a run and Jordan Rodgers added a single to plate a run making it a 3-0 game. Rome added a run in the seventh for the 4-0 score but Columbia cut the lead in half in the eighth on a two run single by Luis Carpio. Rome pitching shutdown the Fireflies the rest of the way for the 4-2 final.          
Ryan Schlosser (1-7) gets his first win of the season while Justin Brantley (2-4) takes the loss for Columbia. 
The next home game for Rome is Thursday April 5th at 7 p.m. to begin the 2018 season.
