ROME, GA - The Rome Braves and Hickory Crawdads took to the diamond in the first game of the second half of the 2022 campaign on Friday night, with Rome looking to equalize the series at two games each.

Rome would turn to righty Royber Salinas in a must win matchup. Salinas entered Friday night's contest as minor league baseball's leader in strikeouts. However, after working a scoreless opening frame, Hickory would tag Salinas for three runs in the second, one run in the third, and two runs in the fourth for a total of six runs over three and two thirds of an inning.

Cody Freeman, Scott Kapers, Chris Seise, and Aaron Zavala would all drive in runs for the Crawdads on Friday night, bringing their run total to eight, and handing the Braves their thirty-first loss of the 2022 season, and their first of the second half of the season.

Lisandro Santos would enter from the bullpen on Friday night, giving up no runs on three hits and striking out five Hickory hitters. Trey Riley would also record a scoreless outing from the pen, going one full inning with one hit and one strikeout.

The eight to one loss is Salinas' fifth of the season, and sends Rome to the bottom of the SAL South standings for the second half. The Braves and Crawdads will continue the action tomorrow night for game five out of six with Luis De Avila on the mound for Rome on a 6:00 pm first pitch.
