Braves Fall to Fireflies 4-2

The Columbia Fireflies defeated the Rome Braves 4-2 Friday night at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 1,805 fans.
The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning when the Fireflies plated four runs, highlighted by a Brandon Brosher two run double to pull out in front, 4-0. The Braves got one back in the bottom half on a Drew Lugbauer RBI single, but still trailed 4-1 late. Rome started a rally in the ninth scoring a run on an Isranel Wilson single, but left the tying run at second to end the game in the 4-2 defeat. Joey Wentz had a great outing for Rome, going five scoreless innings giving up just one hit with six strikeouts.
Gabriel Llanes (6-11) gets the win for Columbia and Walter Borkovich takes the loss for Rome. Matt Blackham (8) gets the save. 
Rome and Columbia square off in game two of a four game series tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
