ROME, GA – The Rome Braves and Winston-Salem Dash saddled up for game two of six on Tuesday night coming off an Education Day win. Royber Salinas would get the ball in his second start with the Braves, his first at home. The Braves would enter the night’s contest just a half game behind Winston-Salem, and chasing the second place spot in the South Atlantic League’s South Division.

Rome would get the offensive party started with a Beau Philip sacrifice fly to center field that would drive in Drew Campbell. The bottom of the fourth would be a mirror image of the second, as Philip would add to the Braves’ lead with another sacrifice fly that drove in Landon Stephens.

The story of the night would be the rebound of a start from Royber Salinas. It was a tale of two starts for the young right hander on Wednesday night. In his High-A debut, Salinas failed to make it out of the first inning after offering up a grand slam to Greenville. In his first start within the confines of AdventHealth stadium, Salinas would settle into a groove early and not look back. Salinas would go five full innings while only surrendering one hit, one walk, and fanning ten Winston-Salem batters.

Vaughn Grissom would drive in the Braves’ third and final run of the evening, and Austin Smith would slam the door out of the pen and give the Braves their sixteenth win of the season by a score of three runs to none. Royber Salinas records his first win of the season, and Austin Smith would pick up his third save on the 2022 campaign.

The Braves and Dash will pick right back up tomorrow night for game three, which is scheduled for a 7:00 pm first pitch.
