Chris Vosters joins 'Riders broadcast team

Wisconsin native to pair with Alex Vispoli on play-by-play
January 31, 2014

FRISCO, TEXAS (JANUARY 31, 2014) - The Frisco RoughRiders are excited to announce the addition of Chris Vosters to the organization's broadcast team for the 2014 season. Vosters will work alongside Alex Vispoli, the "Voice of the RoughRiders," in delivering the play-by-play of RoughRiders games throughout the season and will anchor the team's pre- and post-game coverage for every contest. He will also assist with the team's media relations and social media efforts.

Vosters spent the previous two baseball seasons working in the collegiate Northwoods Baseball League. In 2013 he anchored live, nightly pre- and post-game coverage on the Northwoods League's YouTube channel and provided play-by-play for the circuit's All-Star Game, Big League Dream Showcase and select postseason games. In 2012 Vosters broadcast games for the Lakeshore (Mequon, Wisconsin) Chinooks in their inaugural season.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Vosters was active in student media, broadcasting football, hockey, basketball and softball at 91.7 WSUM, where he was the Sports Director. The Badger State native has been honored as a UW Journalism School Senior Achievement Award Winner and is a nine-time winner of the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Awards for Excellence. In 2013 he received an Honorable Mention in the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America's list of top collegiate sports broadcasters.

The RoughRiders are pleased to add Vosters to an impressive list of young broadcasters who have called RoughRiders games and successfully advanced in their careers in baseball. Frisco's last three #2 broadcasters will open the 2014 season as primary broadcasters in the Carolina League.

  • Nathan Barnett (2013 RoughRiders) is entering his first season as the voice of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Advanced-A, Texas Rangers).
  • Geoff Arnold (2012 RoughRiders) will begin his first season as the lead broadcaster for the Frederick Keys (Advanced-A, Baltimore Orioles) after spending 2013 as the #2 broadcaster for the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Advanced-A, Kansas City Royals).
  • Brian Boesch (2011 RoughRiders) is entering his third season as the primary announcer for the Winston-Salem Dash (Advanced-A, Chicago White Sox).

Aaron Goldsmith, the Voice of the RoughRiders during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, currently serves as one of the radio broadcasters for the Seattle Mariners. He joined the Mariners in 2013 after spending one season as the primary broadcaster for the Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, Boston Red Sox).

Every RoughRiders game can be heard from anywhere in the world at www.RidersBaseball.com, via the RoughRiders' mobile app (available on Apple & Android devices) and through the TuneIn Radio app.
