SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (AUGUST 21, 2013) - The Frisco RoughRiders were eliminated from postseason contention with a 6-5 loss against the San Antonio Missions on Wednesday night at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. With the win, the Missions clinched a spot in the playoffs where they will face the Corpus Christi Hooks in the Texas League playoffs in early September.

The Missions (37-21, 75-52) were led by Josh Geer, who held the Frisco bats to just one run on six hits and a walk in five innings of work. The only run the 'Riders scored against him came in the second inning on a fielder's choice by Tomas Telis, as Geer worked out of a second-and-third situation with one out to allow just a single run. That run tied the game. By the time Geer left, his team had a 6-1 lead.

San Antonio jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an RBI single from Tommy Medica off of Frisco starting pitcher Tyler Tufts. It was the beginning of a big night for Medica. After Telis tied it at 1-1, Rocky Gale retook the lead on a ground ball single to right field in the bottom of the second inning.

Tufts lasted just four innings for the RoughRiders (23-35, 62-66). Lee Orr drove home a third run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 3-1.

Unfortunately for the 'Riders, the call to the bullpen only widened the margin. Jon Edwards surrendered two singles in the fifth before Medica launched a three-run homer to extend the lead to 6-1.

The 'Riders, however, weren't out of yet. Rougned Odor plated two runs in the seventh on his fourth Texas League homer, an opposite field blast off of Ryan Kelly to cut the lead to 6-3.

In the ninth, the 'Riders put two on base and were down to their final out when Odor came up to the plate again. He singled, again to the opposite field, to drive home two more runs and make it a one run game. After a full-count walk by Kalian Sams, with Brett Nicholas at the plate, Odor was picked off at second on a throw from the Missions catcher Gale to end the contest.

The loss eliminated the 'Riders from postseason contention for the first time since 2009.

Tufts (3-5) suffered the defeat, while Geer (8-4) picked up the win. Campos (2) collected the save on consecutive nights, despite allowing the two ninth-inning runs. He had allowed just two combined runs in 20 previous Texas League appearances.
