- Northwest Arkansas starter Foster Griffin earned a quality start, permitting two runs on six hits over 7 2/3 frames in the victory. The Kansas City Royals' No. 6 prospect (MLB Pipeline) struck out four without allowing a walk.
- Jack Lopez's two-out, two-strike, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh broke a 2-2 tie, vaulting the Naturals in front 4-2. Lopez finished the night with three RBIs, including one on a solo homer in the first inning.

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and play their games at beautiful Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first among all Double-A franchises in attendance in each of the last 12 seasons (2005-2016).
