FRISCO, Texas (April 10, 2018) - The Texas Rangers announced Tuesday that former RoughRiders catcher/infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been promoted to the Major Leagues for the first time in his career.
When he debuts, he'll become the 141st former Riders player to make it to the Major Leagues and the 100th to debut with the Rangers.
Kiner-Falefa played all of 2016 and 2017 with the RoughRiders, the Rangers' Double-A affiliate, and was named a Texas League Midseason All-Star both seasons. The Honolulu, Hawaii native hit the first five home runs of his career in 2017, including one off Major League rehabber James Paxton . He was added to the Rangers 40-man roster this past offseason and began the 2018 campaign in Triple-A Round Rock before earning his call to the big leagues.
