FRISCO, Texas (April 21, 2017) - Catcher Jose Trevino will receive the 2016 Rawlings Gold Glove Award in a pregame ceremony before Saturday's 7:05 matchup against the Corpus Christi Hooks at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
Trevino, who began the season with the RoughRiders and is currently on the Rangers Extended Spring Training roster, excelled behind the plate last season with Advanced-A High Desert. In 109 games with the Mavericks, he recorded just two errors and posted a .998 fielding percentage, all while throwing out 47 of 98 attempted base stealers.
The Rawlings Gold Glove Award is presented annually to the best defensive player at each position across all 10 full-season leagues in Minor League Baseball. Minor League Baseball President & CEO Pat O'Conner will be in attendance to present Trevino with the prestigious honor prior to Saturday's first pitch.
