MIDLAND, TEXAS (SEPTEMBER 1, 2013) - Coming off a 7-1 victory, the Frisco RoughRiders clobbered the Midland RockHounds by a 14-4 score on Sunday afternoon at Citibank Ballpark. The 'Riders tied a season-high with 14 runs and came up just one short of tying a season-best 20 hits.

The 'Riders (31-38, 70-69) brought the minimum three batters to the plate in the first inning, but clobbered Midland starter Sean Murphy beginning in the second. Kalian Sams led off the frame with a single, the first of three straight singles to load the bases for Teodoro Martinez. Martinez lofted a ball to the opposite field that crept over the fence for a grand slam home run to give Frisco a 4-0 advantage.

It was the beginning of a career night for Martinez. The 'Riders outfielder went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, scored three times and drove in a career-high eight runs.

Luis Sardinas drove in a fifth run in the second inning, to put Frisco ahead 5-0 after one a half innings.

In the bottom of the second, the RockHounds (28-41, 61-78) scored their only run off of Frisco starter Nick Martinez. Max Muncy led off the inning with a solo home run, to cut the deficit to 7-1. That was the closest Midland would be the rest of the night.

Ryan Strausborger drove in two in the top of the third with a single. The 'Riders put together another big inning in the sixth put the game out of reach.

Rougned Odor doubled in the eighth run of the contest, Sams singled home two more to put the 'Riders into double digits, and then Teodoro Martinez blasted his second home run of the night, a three-run shot to right field, to make it a 13-1 ballgame.

Muncy homered again, a two-run home run, this time off of Jon Edwards, who relieved Martinez in the seventh. Martinez allowed just one run on three hits with no walks and three strikeouts. The homer for Muncy cut it down to a 13-3 RoughRiders lead.

Both teams notched markers in the eighth, and the teams went quietly in the ninth inning, as the 'Riders took game two by a 14-4 score.

Martinez (2-0) picked up the win, while Sean Murphy (8-8), who lasted just three innings, was handed the loss.

The win guarantees that Frisco will finish with no worse than a .500 record at season's end.

The 2013 season comes to a close for the RoughRiders on Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Midland against the RockHounds. Jerad Eickhoff (1-1, 7.56 ERA) closes out the season as the 'Riders' final starting pitcher this year. He is opposed by Drew Granier (2-6, 5.29 ERA).
